Russell Crowe’s Finest Performances In Years Past

April 2nd, 2011 Guest Author No comments

Let’s talk about one of the most popular actors in the movie industry: Russell Crowe. Sure he has had his fair share of legal issues and is known to have quite the temper, but you cannot deny the talent this man has when put on the silver screen. I think Crowe is one of the better actors out there, and the movie industry is a better place for having him around.

This article will discuss what I consider to be the top five Russell Crowe movies.

I went into The Insider not knowing what to expect, and boy was I surprised. This movie was simply fantastic. This film was directed by the very talented Michael Mann and also stars the legendary Al Pacino.

Another great film that starred Russell Crowe is 3:10 To Yuma. This is a modern day take on a Western film and has an all star cast consisting of Crowe, Christian Bale, and the wildly underrated Ben Foster. If you are looking for a good Western with some familiar faces, this is a great choice.

Of course, it goes without saying that any list of Russell Crowe films would have to include Gladiator. This is easily my favorite film of his, and with good reason. It came as little surprise that this film won the Academy Award for Best Picture of the Year.

It is tough to make a list of the greatest films of Russell Crowe without giving praise to his performance of John Nash in A Beautiful Mind. I could not believe he did not win the Academy Award for Best Actor In A Leading Role for this film, but after wining it the previous year for Gladiator, I guess it makes sense.

One other movie that I feel is worth mentioning is Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. This movie is a little slow at times, but when the action is taking place on seas, it gets very intense, very fast.

Hopefully there is at least one film on this list of Russell Crowe movies which you have not yet seen.

The Most Memorable Scorsese Directed Movies Of All Time

April 2nd, 2011 Guest Author No comments

When discussing the greatest directors of all time, one person who is absolutely near the top of the list is Martin Scorsese. For decades, Scorsese has been churning out classic films and I don’t think he’s ever had a bad movie. It is truly remarkable that such a legend did not win his first Academy Award for Best Director until The Departed.

But which of Scorsese’s great movies have been his best? Here are my personal top five favorites.

It is tough to make a list of Martin Scorsese movies without giving praise to Taxi Driver. I saw this film for the first time in a film class at college, and I absolutely loved it. Both Robert De Niro and Jodie Foster were excellent in this movie.

Gangs Of New York was not a film that I immediately wanted to see. It was only after I heard so many positive things about this DiCaprio and Scorsese collaboration that I decided to see it. Daniel Day Lewis was spectacular as Bill the Butcher.

One Martin Scorsese movie that I absolutely loved was Goodfellas. This movie often gets thrown around in the discussion with The Godfather Saga as the best mafia movie of all time. The crazy thing is, Goodfellas is based on a true story.

One movie that definitely makes the cut for me is The Departed. Few people realize that this movie was actually a remake of a Japanese classic, but in the end, it doesn’t really matter. This movie was absolutely incredible and deserved to win the Oscar for Best Picture award.

Finally, I have to give mention to Casino. People go back and forth about which film is better, Casino or Goodfellas. In the end, it is a matter of personal preference, and my favorite of these two is Casino.

Hopefully you found one or films on this epic list that you have yet to view.

March 31st, 2011 Guest Author No comments

Leather is one of the few materials that are usually associated with luxury. Golf being a luxury sport, every golfer desires a leather bag for two prominent reasons. It’s elegant and long-lasting. It’s an asset worth the investment as it never fades away and is always in.

The highlight of leather is that the older it is, the better it look. Most people save up their money to purchase leather even though it’s a bit pricier in comparison to other materials because of its durability. Anything that lasts a long time is always a wiser investment since that means you may only need to buy one or two good ones in your lifetime.

Leather bags aren’t always stereotypically huge like what many ardent golfers carry around with them. Most people will be surprised to know that there is variety of bags ranging from different sizes and shapes to choose from when anyone wants to purchase it. To find out, keep reading.

Sunday Bags – These are smaller convenient golf bags which can hold up to ten clubs at a time. They also have enough space for the tees and balls despite being light and easy to carry around. If you want to get all the nine holes before sundown or just take a casual round, these bags are perfect. You can really get around the course in no time.

These leather bags are generally softer than others since they have less inner construction for holding up.

Executive Bags- These are mostly the medium sized bags which have room for carrying more stuff. All your clubs can be comfortably fit into this bag. The ball pocket is quite big with enough room for ball markers and tees. Sometimes there is a big pocket to fit in the rain hood and a light sweater.

Tour or Cart Bags- the Bags that you often see golfers carrying on their carts are the Tour or Cart Bags. They are full sized leather bags which can accommodate all your golfing equipments.

These bags have enough pockets and sections to hold: phones, keys, sweaters, watches, gloves, tees, balls, clubs, and many more things you may want to keep.

Hybrid Golf Clubs – The Latest Addition To Golf Paraphernalia

March 30th, 2011 Guest Author No comments

Golf club makers have done another wonderful innovation in the name of hybrid golf clubs. They are one of the golf clubs that are commonly used by many golfers these days. This type of golf club makes wonders on how easy to hit a golf ball.

Hybrid means crossing of two different individuals. In the case of hybrid golf clubs, they are the cross the long iron and the fairways woods. As a result of the crossing process, hybrids have the positive attributes of both clubs.

It’s only with the use of hybrids that golfers get ease in hitting a high ball flight coupled with good target precision.

Internal weight distribution of the hybrids is strategically well distributed. In return, the golfers are able to hit the ball airborne in straight path consistently and with higher accuracy.

Unlike the long iron club wherein the center of gravity is located near the club head, hybrids center of gravity is located more towards the end of the head. This change results to the increase in momentum of impulse as the ball is launched

More than 70% of the professional golfers have a hybrid golf club in their golf bags, but amazingly beginners are also well into using these clubs. From beginner to professional golfers, hybrids are the first choice of club to use when they are in trouble where other golf clubs are incapable of doing the job.

Hybrids are also designed with almost identical head as the fairway woods with convex face made of either hollow steel or titanium. However hybrids have shorter shafts than the fairway woods. They are also designed just like the long irons in terms of lofts which can vary from 16-20 degrees. They also have an additional runners or trails that make these clubs ideal to use in roughs, sand or short fairways.

A hybrid golf club is the club golfers should have one in their golf bags. It has all the features any golfer can find from a good impulse long distance ball flight to perfect target accuracy.

Aside from golf clubs, this writer additionally frequently blogs regarding hybrid golf clubs and perfect golf swing.

Mel Gibson’s Most Impressive Acting Performances In Recent Memory

March 29th, 2011 Guest Author No comments

Regardless of how we feel about the guy, Mel Gibson is one actor who has had his fair share of incredible movies. Whether those movies will have the same replay value remains to be seen. I have personally not tried to watch a Mel Gibson movie in quite some time. But regardless, up until recently, I would have to consider him to be one of my favorite actors.

The following films are my top five favorites that star or feature Mel Gibson.

Going back to 1979, one film that definitely should be included is Mad Max. This was one of the films that helped establish Mel Gibson as an acting force to be reckoned with, playing the iconic role of Mad Max Rockatansky.

Without question, Braveheart is my favorite film that Mel Gibson has starred in. Talk about a movie that cleaned up at the Academy Awards. Mel Gibson won Best Director for this film and it came as no surprise that it won the 1996 Academy Award for Best Picture of the Year.

Another movie that I am not ashamed to admit I liked was What Women Want. This movie had the makings of a romantic comedy, but it was rated R so I had faith. It is actually a pretty enjoyable movie, and a very funny concept.

It goes without saying that one of the Lethal Weapon movies must be mentioned here. To me, they are all great, but i thought the best one was Lethal Weapon Four. There is one fight scene in this movie between Mel and Jet Li that is just wild.

One other great movie that deserves to be included on this list is The Patriot. I was skeptical when this movie came out, because I feared it would be too similar to Braveheart. While there are similarities, The Patriot was its own movie and I really liked it.

As you can see, regardless of what Mel Gibson has said or done recently, he has had his fair share of great movies.

Quentin Tarantino’s Finest Movies In Throughout His Career

March 28th, 2011 Guest Author No comments

Few directors have such a distinct style that you can tell a movie is theirs without any previous knowledge. In my opinion, one of those directors is Quentin Tarantino. Tarantino manages to showcase his personality and unique sense of storytelling in any movie he is associated with. His is one of the true auteurs of his generation, and the movie business is better for having him around.

But which of Tarantino’s films can be considered his best? The following films are what I consider to be his best.

No list of Tarantino films would be complete without giving mention to Reservoir Dogs, which was the breakout film for this iconic director. This film was done on a severely limited budget, but with a star cast including Harvey Keitel, Steve Buscemi, and Michael Madsen, you might not realize that.

The story of the “The Bride”, or Kill Bill as it is better known, has to be one of his best films. In my opinion Kill Bill: Volume 2 was the stronger film, just because it struck a better balance between fight scenes and story lines. Both movies are awesome though.

It is tough to make a list of Quentin Tarantino directed or written films without mentioning the Mecca of his movies, Pulp Fiction. This is easily one of my favorite movies of all time and it is amazing it didn’t win an Academy Award for Best Picture. That’s what happens when you go up against Forrest Gump and The Shawshank Redemption in the same year.

One film of Tarantino’s that does not get enough love is Jackie Brown. This is an excellently executed script featuring a star studded cast including Pam Grier, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton, Robert De Niro, Chris Tucker and Bridget Fonda.

One other film that I absolutely loved was Inglorious Basterds. My girlfriend does not like many movies, but this one won her over. That is a good benchmark for me in knowing a film is great!

These are just some of my favorite movies of Quentin Tarantino, however in my opinion all his movies are great and worth seeing.

How Solar Panel Helps Reduce Your Electricity Costs

March 27th, 2011 Guest Author No comments

Electricity generated using the Sun’s rays and wind power is efficient but the benefits are not known to many people. The annual spending on the electricity of any person runs into big amounts.

This is real waste of money for consuming power. Setting up solar panels on the terrace or backyard is beneficial.

The energy produced by solar panel will be sufficient to meet all your requirements of your home and also appliances like computer, fridge etc.

The present bad times, due to the economic recession is the best time to switch over if you are thinking about it. I have done it in the house of my parents since they have a pretty small home anyway. In addition to the savings made on electricity bills, the real worth of the house has also gone up whenever they decide they might sell it.

As an incentive for having gone green my parents get considerable reduction in tax. Now, parent’s neighbor also wants to install solar panels and have hired me for doing the job. I will be charging $1000 each. Considering the cost for purchase of the various parts required this amount is a small fraction.

It is a very simple process of generation of electricity using energy from the sun and wind. The solar panel has silicon cells which generate electricity when sunlight is directed towards it.

A small turbine and generator couple together is used in wind power. The propellers fixed in the turbine are rotated by the wind and the rotation generates results in generation of electricity. The unit works all the 24 hours.

You have a green home. You use solar power. You use wind energy. That is something to happy about. Maintenance is a simple affair. The panel can be easily washed with water.

The Greatest Jeff Bridges Movies Throughout The Years

March 26th, 2011 Guest Author No comments

In my opinion, one of the most likable actors in Hollywood is Jeff Bridges. I mean seriously, could Bridges have asked for a better reception when he finally won his first Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role? It was an incredible thing to watch, and he definitely appeared to not take it for granted. A truly incredible actor and person.

But which Jeff Bridges films have been the best? Here are my personal favorites.

The first movie on this list that I will discuss is Fearless. People often get this film confused with the Jet Li epic, but this movie is completely different. Bridges’ Fearless came out in 1993 and was directed by Peter Weir.

Another fantastic film that stars Jeff Bridges is Arlington Road. Talk about a suspenseful movie. This film also stars Tim Robbins in what has to be his creepiest role. I love Tim Robbins, and this film almost ruined my opinion of him.

Another movie that I would definitely include on this list is Tron. This is one of the founding fathers of both science fiction and special effects driven movies, and I cannot wait to see what Tron 2 will look like in 3D. The sequel will also star Bridges.

Of all the movies that Bridges has starred in, in no movie was his performance as impressive as in Crazy Heart. If you put any other actor in this film, it probably would have been overlooked; Bridges managed to make this movie into his personal masterpiece, culminating in an Academy Award.

To not put The Big Lebowski on this list would be a shame. This film has become such a cult classic that bowling leagues across the country have sprouted up in its honor. This is definitely one of the better comedies of the nineties.

Hopefully there is at least one movie on this list of Jeff Bridges films that you have not yet viewed.

Today, golf is becoming popular that it was been before. Many get interested to try and play this sport. People of all races and coming from all ages can get a chance of playing this relaxing and competitive sport and this can truly be enjoyed by the whole family.

If you are playing golf, one thing that you should need to have, as it is considered as important and very essential piece of equipment is a golf driver. The golf driver has the ability to drive the ball over 250 yards in just one strike.

Many players have made name in this sport because of their talent and ability to drive a ball for a long distance shot. To win in golf, one of the main strategies to consider is on how to get your ball to the hole just in few shots. It won’t happen if your don’t have the ability to make a long shots or without using a quality driver.

The characteristics that define a good driver are the following: the driver itself must have a good launch angle and good aerodynamics, the capability of moving a ball on a good speed and it must have good composition.

The golf driver is available in various types of materials. But the material where it is made is not the only factor that is considered important, but the length is also important.

Titanium is a type of material used to manufacture a driver and considered to be popular because of its lightweight and it is a strong metal at the same time. But the stainless steel driver is still preferred by experienced golfers because they can have good control on the driver when swinging it because of its heavy weight.

If you are on a store and ready to make a purchase of your new gold driver, be sure to consider the fact that whatever may work to your golf mates may also work to you as well. Test the golf driver if it is comfortable to use in doing the golf swing and if you can give good control in every swing.

If you found and purchased the right driver that gives you a good feel and works well in your every swing, this will improve your game performance not only you can hit long distances but it will also improve your self confidence which will improve your overall game.

Besides golf drivers, this writer additionally regularly gives advice regarding Yamaha golf carts and backyard golf greens.

March 25th, 2011 Guest Author No comments

This article will discuss the films and career of Robin Williams. Robin Willams got his big start on television, on the hit series Mork & Mindy from 1978 to 1982. After that, he established himself as one of the greatest comedians of his generation. He is an incredibly likable actor and has had some incredible films.

One movie that undoubtedly makes the list is Mrs. Doubtfire. Who knew Robin Williams could successfully pull off the part of a female British nanny? This is a classic comedy that also stars Sally Field and Pierce Brosnan.

Another film that certainly makes the cut for me is Aladdin. Sure, this is an animated film, but it is definitely one of my favorite Disney movies of all time. Williams voices Genie, which I didn’t know until recently.

Good Will Hunting very well might be Williams’ best role of his career. In this movie, he plays a psychologist who is the only person that is able to get through to Will Hunting, a genius who has gone down the wrong path. Matt Damon stars as the title character.

Another film that I would definitely say is one of my favorites starring Robin Williams is Hook. This Steven Spielberg directed adaptation of the Peter Pan story was wildly successful and my personal favorite of its kind. Dustin Hoffman is also great in this film as Captain Hook.

The final film that I will discuss is The Birdcage. This movie plays out like a theatrical performance, which very well might have been their intention. It is hilarious and Williams is fantastic as the part of Armand Goldman.
